It's Almost KANDIELAND Time!

KANDIELAND 6 is almost here and I'm more excited than I've ever been for a KL party because this time I'm deejaying! I'm so beyond ecstatic it's ridiculous :) It's a dream come true and I can't wait!

I finished building the promotional site for the event yesterday and it makes the KL5 site I made look boring in comparison. It's pretty intense and I'm super excited at how it came out :)

Check out the KANDIELAND 6 site!

If you've never been to a KANDIELAND party in AZ and you like hardcore music (like the stuff I play) then I would definitely recommend attending! This year Ruben and I are going together again, Aimee will be there, Colin is coming (all the way from Scotland!), and I'm sure a ton of other friends and fans will be there too!

October 10 will be a good, good night. Will you be there? :)

Seattle

I'm so in love with Seattle. The more time I spend there, the more I want to move there. My recent trip was a nice 6 day adventure in awesome! My primary residence while I was there was Fizzbetch Manor (as it is know on foursquare), other wise know as Rozi's or Josh's place (but is also Haylee's place). Since I wasn't drinking, I had so much more time to go out and explore the city and hang out with friends. I've become a top-seated amateur in the art of Seattle public transportation. That is quite awesome since I would likely take the buses more often than drive if I lived there. Everything is just a bus or two away! I ate pho at Tan Bros (sp?), got new headphones, broadcasted my show from The Lab, explored the Pacific Science Center, enjoyed sushi, rocked the show at ROFLcopter, visited the Junction for deliciousness at the Matador, partied it up at SuperBetch house party, checked out a rad Italian/Spanish tapas place, stopped by the infamous Section One, enjoyed an epic shopping adventure to find the incredibly-difficult-to-locate-in-Seattle-even-though-it-shouldn't-be hoodie, went out for *surprise* dinner and a movie, and finished the trip off with a rad photo shoot! There was a ton more, but those are most of the highlights! I also got to see a few Mizaki films which were all rad :) Seattle and all of my rad friends up there make me so happy... Thank you guys! Looking forward to another trip up there (hopefully very) soon!!!

As for Vegas, ugh! At least I have some amazing friends and family here... I love you guys :)

Now it's time to head to LA to rock another show. I love getting the opportunity to deejay so often! HTID, BiTcHeS!

P.S. I was able to change my username both on here and on MySpace, so I'm pretty much keithsuperk everywhere online now! :)

The Good Life

Despite a few (important) things not going well in my life, there is much to smile about. I've been working out with Cousin for over a month now and our bodies are definitely showing great progress! I made it through the month of (mostly) avoiding alcohol and am still sober! There of course was the pre-arranged exception weekend for Disneyland's birthday, but even then I only had a few cocktails and stayed coherent. My last cocktail was consumed on July 18. Who knows if or when I'll start drinking again as I have no motivation to drink at this time. In other news, I started a rad new part-time job working with Katie at her dad's realty group partnership as an "administrative assistant" this past week and received my first paycheck today! The work is fun and always changing, plus, the office I work in and the people I work with totally make me happy. I've got tons of deejay gigs coming up in my quad-city region- Vegas, Seattle, LA, and Phoenix! Also, my web business is starting to pick up steam! There's so much going right that it's hard to imagine me still being a bit down, but I am. I'm moving on and keeping busy, but my heart still aches. Regardless, I'm doing my best to keep my chin up and enjoy all the greatness that has recently bestowed me! Good juju coming my way :)

DreamSequence and TheStart/Normandie

Despite their U-Haul with all their gear in it being stolen, DreamSequence played (IMHO) the best show I've ever seen them play! The last song was a lost cause, but they trucked through it anyway. They really shined tonight! TheStart/Normandie was also super amazing! I'm glad I went to the show. I got to see a lot of awesome people and talked to a few I was hoping to be able to.

Whirlwind!

The past few months have flown by and all the awesomeness just blurs together in my memory... I experienced so many rad things, got to hang out with so many amazing people, and enjoyed most every moment of it! :) A big thank you to everyone who has let me stay with them, driven me around, and teleported with me! As much as I would love to continue on with all this crazy teleportation, it looks like I'll be here in Vegas until mid-July. I've got to get some new contracts going and get my finances back in order stat and traveling won't help that at all... So as of now, the next time I plan to leave town is around July 17 for Disneyland's birthday. It will be nice to lay low for a few weeks. I'm hoping to get a daily exercise routine going soon so I can utilize the insane gym system we got on craigslist for $200 and get a bit more fit. I do tons of walking all the time, but I need to do more than that if I ever plan on getting my body back in noticeably better shape.

In other news, I got to hang with my mom a lot over the past two weeks! She was in town for a wedding and it was awesomeness to spend more time with her. Lots of good food, too! My mom's cooking is top notch :) Over the past few days I also picked out parts for and assembled a computer for my bro Kev ("Ducard") for his birthday. I brought it over this morning and we connected all the peripherals and such and it turned out *really* nice! Very happy about that...

iPhone 3.0 TOMORROW!!! So excited!!!

Anywho, back to the grind...

The past month or so has really been amazing! I can't believe I've actually done everything on the list in my last post, short of the few upcoming things... I leave on Thursday for the east coast where I will be until the 20th. It's been a crazy and awesome year so far, and it looks like that streak will be continuing for quite a bit :)

Happy Cinco de Mayo, BiTcHeS!!! Tonight we're doing Cinco de GameNight rather than going out... It's going to be awesome!

March Madness

This March has really caught me off guard! I've been so confused about what is happening when (usaully off by a week) for the entire month, and this is happening even while looking right at my calendar! It's about the only kind of March madness you'll ever hear me talk about... LOL

Tonight, a rad friend of mine, Vanessa, wanted to head up to Mt Charleston after midnight and go stargazing. If you know me well enough, you know I love astronomy and the stars so I was really excited to take her up on her offer! We spent a good 3+ hours laying down up there just staring at the sky, catching a glimpse of a meteor every so often :) It was really nice to just get away for a few hours and be out in nature... We're so disconnected from the universe in our busy day-to-day lives with all our technology- it's easy to forget how beautiful nature really is.

In other news, I've been super busy with lots of work and it's been nice churning out projects left and right! I've been able to help a lot of friends with personal and business projects and make a decent amount of money to be able to pay the minimums on my main hospital bill and take care of other financial stuff. I'm not totally in the green, but I'm staying afloat. That's more than a lot of people can say right now and I'm really grateful that I am doing okay in that arena.

My room is still organized and clean! I've even managed to throw out a few more bags of stuff I should have gotten rid of years ago... Go me :) Still need to get around to another round of reorganization and reduction for the boxes out in the garage. Hopefully I'll do that soon.

Omar's amazing band DreamSequence will be playing this Saturday at Beauty Bar here in Vegas! They are second on the lineup so I'm thinking they'll be going on sometime between 10 and 12... I'm not sure of the price, but last time it was only $5. I doubt it would be any higher than $10, and their live shows are well worth that :) Open invite so come check them out!

Let's take a look at my progress on the things that I was hoping to resolve this year... So far so good!

Bedroom is filled to the brim with ridiculously space-wasting furniture and inefficient storage containers.

My original solution was to build a new super-awesome, mega-organized, and all around space-saving bedroom set to help in my quest to regain space in my cluttered room. While I still intend to build the new furniture set when I have the money to, I needed a short-term solution so as to avoid going nuts. I thought up a pretty ingenious new configuration for some of my furniture and storage space and totally won back a big chunk of floor space that was sorely missing just a few short months ago! I figure I have at least 15 more square feet of floor space now :) No more squeezing by everything to get anywhere in my room! I also took the time to reorganize and make the most of my bookcases/DVD shelves. It's amazing how much more stuff I fit in there now and how much better it looks. I smile every time I glance over there.

Boxes in the garage really aren't labeled or organized beyond containing some things that may belong together.

I'm planning on attempting to at least partially achieve this later this week or early next week. It's crazy how much easier it is for me to get rid of things these days. It's nice that the only PackRat I can be related to these days is the game on Facebook!

Online time is consumed with tons of pointless crap amid some things that are really useful.

I made a separate feed list with all the feeds that aren't work related and update way too often. I also quit playing all the games that required any kind of daily commitment as of the start of the new year. Productivity way up!

Extra weight. I haven't really gained much, but I'd like to be a bit more fit.

I've been okay about staying away from sodas and the like. I've cheated a few times here and there, but at this point it's almost a non-issue. I'm pretty proud of how much water I've been drinking during the day, especially when I am working at home. I've been pretty good at avoiding ridiculous fast food too. I had to try an Angry Whopper which was very tasty, but I won't be having another anytime soon.

Go me! :)

Things have been pretty crazy lately... My trip to Seattle was amazing. I love the area and the restaurants and the people and everything about Seattle. I miss you Seattle!!! The rave I played at was nothing short of amazing and it was so awesome to be hanging with Starr and Rize (of Phoenix, AZ) all the way up in Seattle.

In the past week or so I've had sushi more times than I can count and it's made me a very happy K! Sushi = WIN!

Omar came to visit for a nice 5 days and we've gone so many places and done so much... We hit up Body English with Ruben to see Jordan Stevens and Above & Beyond play on Wednesday. Two words: Maker's Mark. Thursday night was sPiN! sPiN! SuPeR! at the Retro Lounge :) Friday we Stripped (hey there Monster Yard drinks!), sushied, and then Rock Banded it at Cousin's place. Saturday was a bit of a FAIL from the get-go as we both woke up around 7am... We watched Repo! The Genetic Opera that afternoon and I was really confused trying to follow the storyline via all the songs while totally out of it (recovery mode), but it was a pretty rad movie and I'm excited to see it again. Saturday evening we picked up a Foxy Sofa and headed to Katie and Jeff's place for Make Our Own Pizza night :) Jeff managed to make this tablet pizza with nothing on it that looked strikingly like the Necronomicon from Evil Dead which was awesome. All our pizzas came out rad and we followed up dinner with a nice round of The Game of Things! Afterward, Katie, Sophia, Omar, and I headed across the world to 80's Night with the Spazmatics at South Point. Good times there as usual with lots of friends I don't get to see too often :)

It's Sunday now... O and I just woke up and we're not sure what we're doing... Things are good in the World of K :)

2009: Redux

Throughout 2008 a lot of things changed drastically; some for better, some for worse.
  • Started doing sPiN! sPiN! SuPeR! on a regular basis again after a long period of not being able to do the show.
  • Moved around through quite a few groups of friends with no intention of losing touch with any of them, but still ended up fucking things up and hurting people unintentionally. I love all of the people in my life and even if I don't talk to them all the time like I used to doesn't mean I want them out of my life or anything ridiculous like that.
  • Started seeing Omar.
  • Stopped traveling all over the city to do things all the time.
  • Started spending a lot of time with Cousin, Jeff, and Katie.
  • Ended up deejaying at several raves in Vegas. (Mostly thanks to New Galaxy!)
  • Finally got a beta version of my site building software, BLoK, out the door!
  • A presidential candidate I voted for finally won.
  • I gained and lost my right to marry in the state of California.
  • The blue came back to my hair :)
  • I had my appendix removed and ended up back in debt.
My goal for 2009 is pretty simple: I need to downsize, organize, and shape up in order to be able to move forward. Over the past few years I've gained a lot of extra and/or unnecessary stuff.
  • Bedroom is filled to the brim with ridiculously space-wasting furniture and inefficient storage containers.
  • Boxes in the garage really aren't labeled or organized beyond containing some things that may belong together.
  • Online time is consumed with tons of pointless crap amid some things that are really useful.
  • Extra weight. I haven't really gained much, but I'd like to be a bit more fit.
So I've come up with a few plans to fix all this waste and get things simplified.
  • Build a new bedroom set that saves space and integrates storage for things like records, DVDs, CDs, and books. Think lofted bed, desk underneath and low to the ground, bookshelves built into one end, record shelves and deejay setup on the other end: all-in-one! This will also make moving easier when the time comes.
  • Spend a good week emptying out ALL my boxes, reorganize everything, throw out more crap, then re-box and label what is left. Again, total time saver for moving.
  • Reduce the number of distracting feeds I subscribe to online, like FAILblog. They are amusing, but don't need them to be disrupting my work flow.
  • Reduce the number of "daily" games I play on Facebook, like Scratch and Win. They are fun, but also pointless. Packrat can stay since I usually only indulge in that late at night and I don't need to log in everyday just to get credits to use for nothing... The games that require a daily commitment have to go!
  • Cut out sodas and other pointless frivolities from my normal consumption. I want to start drinking more tea, eating more veggies, and just eating better in general.
So begins the new year. Let's do this!

Disconnected.

Warning: This post is just a big dump of everything on my mind so it may seem a bit erratic.

I've been out so much lately with all this holiday stuff including cooking, hanging with family/friends, shopping, and all the other hubbub that i've barely been online at all. I used to keep AIM on at home so people could leave me messages, but now I have unlimited txts so I just have AIM forwarding to my phone when I'm not at my computer. It's a big paradigm shift for me as I've practically been tethered to my computer for the past 10 years, but I just haven't had the time to keep up with everything lately. I've only been reading through El Jays once a week for the most part, I only log into Facebook in the mornings to do some stuff in the apps I use, and I only check MySpace for mail once a day (since that's all it's really useful for anymore). It's been insane trying to keep up with everything that's been going on and I'm just happy I have more than a moment today to unwind and relax. I only get to see my mom once or twice a year, so when she's here I try and spend as much time as I can with her. That coupled with stuff I need to do at home and all my other errands, events, and commitments... AHHH! So yeah.

Christmas Eve was a bit hectic. My mom arrived in town around noon and we did some shopping and ate a small lunch before I had to head home to my dad's house for dinner. It was nice to have everyone over and it was delightful to watch the younger kids open some of their gifts after dinner. With all the stress I've been under, I really didn't eat much dinner and dessert was limited to a few small bites of fudge. Afterward, the cousins and I headed over to my sunt and uncle's house where my mom is staying to hang out with her and enjoy some of the eggnog I made the night before. It's always a lot less chaotic at my aunt and uncle's house. Christmas was nice. My cousins, Dee, and I made pierogies a few days before Christmas and we ate them for Christmas dinner. They came out top notch this year! (My mom thinks I should go to culinary school because she knows I like to cook and I'm pretty good at making stuff, but I'm not sure I want to jump that far into that.) Everyone left shortly after dinner and Cousin and I headed over to hang with Jeff and Katie... Always good times there :) I won't bore you with the details, but overall it was a nice Christmas.

New Year's Eve is quickly approaching and I'm super looking forward to Pajama Masala, the Bollywood themed NYE party [info]notafraid2dl and [info]cemeinke are throwing. I've been trying to make it to one of their infamous NYE parties for years, and now I'm finally able to go :) The big awesome is the fact that I'll finally get to spend some time with Omar! He works retail and has pretty much been non-stop busy since I last saw him, so we haven't had much talk time. I'll be in So Cal (There- I didn't say Cali!) Dec 30-Jan 2... Sleeping Beauty Walk-Through here I come!!!

Anyway, that's my brain dump for now. Have a rad and safe NYE everyone! Big hearts!!!

So far this year's Week of Relaxation has been pretty awesome!

Friday night, Cousin and I went and saw Phantom which was super rad, then planned to make a short stop at one of Cousin's co-worker's new pad for a house warming party. We ended up staying the night, but good times were had! It's also worthy to note that all the games we played that night I had never played before :) *score!*

Saturday consisted of a stop at Einstein Bros for break'ast on the way home from the previous night's party, seeing missionaries and getting a great idea for a song remix (more on that at a later date hahaaha), packing, and then finally leaving for Cali(fornia). On the way up to Ventura County we stopped at a house party to hang with Omar for a bit. That was amusing and it was so nice to finally see him again! We got in late and slept most of the day Sunday.

Sunday afternoon, we ran some errands to get relaxation supplies and stopped at the deli by Cousin's childhood home to buy them out of Snap-E-Tom mix (plus some Stoli!) and get some Gyros for lunch. That night, Omar made his way up to see us and he arrived as Cousin and I were watching the Phantom of the Opera movie on DVD to compare it with our recent live viewing of said show. I had never seen the movie version and mostly enjoyed it, with the big exception of the changes to the Phantom's mask and the lack of any real reason for him to wear said mask because they really didn't make his face look all that screwed up! His face makeup was pitiful. Totally took me out of the moment. After I recovered from my disappointment, we hit up the Rudder Room to grab a whiskey drink, and then a vodka drink, then a lager drink, and then a cider drink so we could sing song that remind us of the good/best times. And that we did- except the Rudder Room doesn't carry any cider drinks so we peaced out early to make a cider run before the dreaded liquor cutoff time! Big ups to Chumbawumba for sharing such a great party plan! Drinking those drinks in that order was top notch!

Monday was all about watching movies and cooking (while relaxing). We started off the morning with a nice breakfast of Orange Juice and home-made Egg McMuffins! (I forgot the cheese, but no one seemed to notice or care... Next time!) Cousin prepared some nice morning beverages (Snap-E-Tom Bloody Mary's) and we sat down to watch 007: Casino Royale since we plan on seeing the new/next one on Wednesday. I took breaks from the movie to prepare and bake the rolls which I contribute to our Thanksgiving feast every year- they came out perfect! Good to have that done and out of the way :) After Casino Royale ended, I put in Baby Mama and started to get to work on our dinner feast. Cousin and I made some delicious pasta with a very tasty meat sauce that included sauteed bell peppers and onions, some merlot, and a little sugar added to a base of Classico Caramelized Onion & Roasted Garlic. It worked out quite well! We also had garlic bread and a simple salad. Go team!

Now it's time to head to sleep so we can wake up super early to get our Disney on! Anyone is welcome to join Cousin and I at the parks tomorrow (Tuesday)! We plan on closing out the park, so come after work and join us for a bit! :)
